Meski sedang dalam masalah semacam itu, sebagian dari mereka berusaha berjuang. Dalam contoh kemiskinan, kita bisa melihat kehidupan pemulung.
Hari ini, sudah berapa kali teman-teman bertemu pemulung ?. Satu kali, dua kali, atau tidak terhitung ? Apakah kalian pernah memperhatikan mereka ?.
Atau malah menghiraukannya ? .Walaupun kehidupannya serba terbatas, pemulung juga pejuang kehidupan. Dan, kebanyakan kita tidak mengetahui latar belakang mereka, darimana dan mengapa mereka memilih memulung.
Namun apakah kita harus mengetahui latar belakangnya dulu, baru kita tergerak untuk sedikit membantu mereka ? Untuk itu marilah kita renungkan sebentar.
Minimnya kesadaran sosial, mungkin membuat masyarakat yakin bahwa pemulung hanya sebatas manusia yang mencari nafkah dengan mencari barang bekas di tumpukan sampah. Tetapi menurut saya, kadang ini telah dinormalisasikan oleh masyarakat.
Akhirnya, saya sendiri kadang – kadang menghiraukan mereka yang memulung maupun mengemis di jalanan. Pada saat menulis ini, saya sempat membaca sebuah berita dari detik.com.
Isi beritanya menceritakan seorang bocah berusia tujuh tahun yang harus menjadi pemulung agar bisa membiayai sekolahnya sendiri. Dalam sehari ia hanya mendapatkan 10 ribu sampai 20 ribu rupiah. Bocah ini memulung botol-botol plastik di sekitaran Kota Brebes.

Apakah kalian tidak sadar ?. Banyaknya makhluk hidup yang terganggu akibat kebiasaan kita yang membuang sampah sembarangan. Atau akibatnya juga merusak lingkungan. Seperti banjir dan lain sebagainya.
Dari pelajaran kesadaran sosial dan lingkungan ini, sejak dulu Nabi Muhammad SAW telah bersabda agar kita memiliki kepedulian pada sesama maupun lingkungan.
“Barangsiapa melepaskan kesusahan seorang muslim, maka Allah akan melepaskan kesusahannya pada hari kiamat” (HR. Bukhari & Muslim).
Dari hadits tersebut, Islam mengajarkan kita untuk membantu sesama muslim, sesama manusia maupun mahkluk hidup lainnya terlebih di bulan penuh rahmat dan ampunan ini. Untuk itu marilah kita bangun kembali kesadaran masyarakat dengan memberi pesan lewat suatu karya, saling mengingatkan, dan saling membantu antar sesama.
